WHO IS KAMOS
Bronx-born rapper and producer Kamos, discovered his musical calling at the remarkably early age of three. His natural affinity for the emotive power of soulful sounds caught the attention of his father, who nurtured this budding talent by installing FL Studio on their family computer when Kamos was just nine years old. This paternal support extended to helping transform the young artist's bedroom into a home studio, laying the foundation for his future in music production.
Kamos first captured widespread attention in 2014 with his breakthrough track "MYFB." He quickly followed this success with his "Back In Time " EP which featured Own Supply," an innovative reimagining of The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Ten Crack Commandments," and the compelling "Arthur Kill Road." While establishing himself as a respected producer collaborating with local talent, Kamos maintained his trajectory as an independent artist, culminating in a return to center stage in late 2022 with the release of "828 Volume 1," the first installment of his ambitious three-part EP series.
January 2023 saw the arrival of "828 Volume 2," a masterful blend of jazz-influenced boom bap production and introspective lyricism. The project, anchored by the successful single "Free Speech," garnered acclaim from major hip-hop publications including HipHopDX, Global Grind, Revolt TV, and HipHop Wired. Building on this momentum, Kamos released "828 Volume 3" just a month later, featuring the standout opening track "Enough," a poetic examination of his personal struggles on the path to artistic achievement.
The series culminated in "828: The Full Project," which showcased Kamos's artistic evolution through tracks like "MISUNDERSTANDING" and "BET ON ME," where he candidly addresses the challenges faced as an emerging artist. Throughout his work, Kamos demonstrates raw vulnerability and introspective honesty, chronicling the struggle between survival, sacrifice, and self-doubt with an authenticity that resonates with the working class experience in contemporary hip-hop.
